    So THAT was Barney’s problem.
As Robert Young would say, he was “on edge from too much caffeine.”

I am looking for a commercial that ran several years ago about barney and andy playing their guitars with the prisoners, It played music that sounded like LL Cool J over their music. Can anyone help me out?

  • Escomillo:

I remember the old people here in FLorida called any kind of decaf “Sanka”. 75-year old bleached blonde woman, with smoker’s/whiskey voice to waitress: “Honey, where’s my SANKA?”

    Toxic waste this stuff was….

sanka coffee was gross.the only instant coffee that tasted like dirt.and muddy water. i only saw old people buy this in the store couse robert young said it was good coffee.thats why all the old people are dead.from drinking this toilet water

  • NinjaGhostScorpion:

Personally, I think ALL coffee tastes like paint.

  • Fruth37:

Sanka tasted like dishwater. Yuck! Only old people, at risk for a heart attack, would drink that swill! Maybe if they added caramel, extra whipped cream, and vanilla to it, it would be drinkable!

Andy’s long-time sponsor, General Foods, also sponsored Jack Benny on radio for many years {“THE JELL-O PROGRAM”}- the practice of the star and/or cast delivering a “comedy” commercial for the sponsor’s product was carried over from radio. In this case, Andy plugged Sanka, Post cereals, and anything else GF asked him to, during the eight-year run of his TV show, at the end of every episode.

  • NorbertZF:

BRILLIANT! Jack Benny started this, I think, by mentioning the sponsor’s product during the show, it was JELLO. It was brilliant at the time because they were extremely popular AND likable characters so why not have them do the selling instead of some no-name actor? Could you imagine Roseanne or some”thing” like her trying to sell a product? It would work today with the types on TV now.
